Giller Prize
From Page to Pillow: Prize-Winning Reads in Every Room

Founded in 1994, The Giller Prize is a literary award given to a Canadian author of a novel or short story collection published in English the previous year, after an annual juried competition. The Giller Prize recognizes excellence in Canadian fiction including acclaimed writers such as Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Michael Ondaatje, Madeleine Thien, Austin Clarke and Mordecai Richler. Winning authors frequently become members of the jury in subsequent years.
As part of Union Hotel’s commitment to supporting local artists, we have partnered with the Giller Prize to provide prize-winning literature in each guestroom. Guests can also explore a curated selection of past winners and shortlisted titles in the Union Hotel x Giller Prize Library, located in the lobby.
