Your Ultimate Guide to Pride in Toronto in 2025

Toronto Pride 2025

The History Behind The Pride in Toronto 2025

Pride in Toronto isn’t just a parade—it’s the result of decades of protest, progress, and power.

The city’s first major demonstration for 2SLGBTQ+ rights was “We Demand,” a peaceful protest on Parliament Hill in 1971. A few years later, what began as small-scale gatherings became a full-fledged Pride celebration. After the infamous 1981 Bathhouse Raids—where police targeted queer spaces—the community responded with mass protests that would ultimately lay the foundation for Toronto’s Pride as we know it today: political, joyful, necessary.

Fast-forward to Pride Month in Toronto 2025, you’ll find the city not just commemorating that history, but expanding on it. Think: vibrant public art, performances by queer artists, inclusive programming, and a fierce dedication to intersectionality.
